First medal at Rio Olympic Games is still eluding India. On day three none of the Indian athletes managed to bring home a medal as has been the case for opening two days. There were hopes onAbhinav Bindra to break the ice and help India clinch a medal. However, the shooter finished fourth in the finals of men’s 10m air rifle shooting. Swimmers Sajan Prakash and Shivani Kataria too were disappointing. In hockey both men’s and women’s teams lost their matches against Germany and Great Britain respectively. With new day, Indian athletes will hopefully dish out better performance in Rio Olympics. On day four, India’s lone rower at the Games will be competing in the quarterfinals of men’s single sculls. Shooter Heena Sidhu, who failed to qualify for finals of 10m air pistol, will now be participating in women’s 25m pistol. Indian men’s hockey will look to bounce back from their defeat against Germany and will take on Argentina. This will be India’s third match. Archer Antanu Das will be up against Nepal’s Jitbahadur Muktan in the Round of 64 contests.
On day four we will witness Indian boxer in action for the first time at Rio Olympics. Vikas Krishnan will be exchanging punches against Charles Conwell of United States. Let’s hope, it is one of those productive day’s for India!
