Guess what is taking the internet by storm. No, it isn’t another hilarious music video by Taher Shah or a spat between the reigning Khans or another Arnab’s dubsmash. It’s the photo filter app ‘Prisma’ that allows users to indulge in some creativity. Available only on itunes for now, the app which takes 15.5 mb space is described thus:
“Be an artist! Turn your photos into awesome artworks:
– Modern art filters!
– Stunning photo effects
– Fast sharing
In short, it transforms your photos into artworks using the styles of famous artists: Munch, Picasso as well as world famous ornaments and patterns. A unique combination of neural network art and artificial intelligence helps turn your memorable moments into timeless art.
Since it is available on itunes, it comes with a price of Rs. 57, but once downloaded it is as easy as using a filter on instagram or the inbuilt filters in photo editing in our phones.
Early this week, users of instagram and Facebook kept themselves busy by updating profiles photos using the filter and answering queries on ‘how did you get that?’
Prisma however isn’t a new baby. It was launched in the second week of June and updated on July 8.
Since its update the download rate went up by several million hits surprising the developer Russian Alexei Moiseyenkov.
The app application results are quite stunning but can be disastrous if the shading isn’t adjusted properly.
Depending on the photo — whether it a portrait or a scenery — the filter gives the best effects. For sceneries, ‘Udnie’, running in the storm, the scream, mark etc bring out the effect of a real painting. For portraits without much colour or backgroud it is the MIOBI. And if you like to look whacky, go for composition, gothic. If you want the pencil shade effect, it has to be the curly hair filter.
