Until now, Apple has released four iPad mini tablets and fans are worried that this year, the American giant will skip the fifth generation, because we are approaching the end of October and the company hasn’t made any announcement yet. However, rumors suggest that Apple will unveil the iPad mini 5 next week, but it could be called the iPad Pro mini.
The iPad Mini 4 was unveiled on 9 September 2015, alongside the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus, while a month later, Apple was unveiling the iPad Pro 12.9, a 2-in-1 hybrid that competes against Microsoft’s Surface Pro 4. This spring, Apple released a smaller variant of the iPad Pro, which has a 7.9-inch display – the same size of the iPad Mini 4.
On October 27, Apple will hold a new event and with this occasion, it will announce new Macs and most likely, the next iPad Mini. The event will be live streamed and users will be able to watch it in Safari browser on their iPhones, iPads, iPods and Macs, or in the Edge browser on Windows 10 devices.
The iPad mini 5/ iPad Pro mini is expected to come with the same release price as its predecessor. This means that if the 16GB version will be dumped, the base model will start at 32GB and in the UK it will cost £319 (WiFi only) or £419 (WiFi + 4G). The 64GB version will cost £399 (WiFi only) or £499 (WiFi + 4G), while the 128GB version will be priced at £479 (WiFi only) or £579 (WiFi only + 4G).
While the screen will measure 7.9-inch, the exterior will be made of Series 7000 aluminum, which was used for the iPhone 6s, because it’s more resistant and it doesn’t bend. The tablet will be 5mm thick, it will support 3D Touch and will be water-resistant. Also, it’s not sure if the Apple Pencil will be introduced or not, but when it comes to the internal specs, the iPad Mini 5 will be equipped with an A9 processor that will be backed by 2GB of RAM, and it will run on iOS 10. If the iPad Mini 5 will have a thickness of only 5mm, it means that the battery capacity will be reduced from 5,124mAh. Don’t expect any changes when it comes to cameras, but you will need to say good bye to the standard 3.5mm headphone jack.
