The boom in the app business has dipped down from the early days when everyone was downloading a new app every day. Most people have found their core apps for social media and utilities and there just isn’t much use for random apps you won’t use. Change is hard… But every now and then, a new app comes out that just might prove it is worth the hassle of downloading.
We found five great apps that can provide some use for you whether your traveling, need weather updates or are looking to step up your photo game. These apps are available on both Android and iOS and should garner a download from you at least to just check them out. They’re pretty awesome and add a lot of function into their area of focus (photography, planning). One of the selections even won the App of the Year title from both Google and Apple.
Who knows, you might end up liking them enough to integrate into your daily routine.
Attenborough’s Story of Life (Android, iOS) – Free
Attenborough’s Story of Life is an app from Sir David Atterborough and it is a nature lover’s dream app. This app contains many great videos that put the user in many educational adventures through wildlife videos. The app itself has a gorgeous interface that makes enjoying the over 1,000 special wildlife moments a truly enjoyable experience.
Prisma (Android, iOS) – Free
The winner of Google and Apple’s App of the Year awards in 2016 puts filters over your picture that completely transform them into works of art. Whether it’s a water painting or something closer to Van Gough’s style, this app can do it. It has a social tab too, so you can share your pics with other Prisma users, or you can just share them directly to Instagram or Facebook.
Google Trips (Android, iOS) – Free
Google Trips combines Google’s smarts and applies it to any trip your taking. This lets you schedule and plan out a trip depending on the location you’re going to in a pleasant and clean design that is reminiscent of Google’s list structure found in the company’s Calendar and Inbox app. It also gives your recommendations about possible places to visit on your trip. You can even download trips offline, in case your next adventure takes you far away from cell service.
Coach.me (Android, iOS) – Free
Coach.me is exactly what the name suggests, a personal coach for you. It is meant to help you build new habits and keep them. Whether it is meditation, running, productivity or even writing, this app will remind you to keep up your latest goal. The app also has a social section that allows you to connect with other users and stay motivated with your new habit.
Dark Sky (Android, iOS) – $3.99
Dark Sky has been around for a while, but that by no means diminishes its greatness. One of the best weather apps available turns weather tracking into an art form. It breaks down your local weather into an hour by hour list that lets you know when it’s going to rain and when it’s not. It also lets you know the humidity and precipitation percentage. The goal of the app is to give you as much information as possible about the weather. Unlike the other apps on this list, this app costs $3.99, but given the sheer amount of info it gives you over a stock weather app, it just might be worth the upgrade.
