Apple is planning to make some huge improvements to the software on the iPad, but owners will have to wait until next year to try it out.
One of the biggest new features could involve the Apple Pencil, according to a new report that claims Apple’s big update will bring a powerful annotation feature to the device aimed at professional users.
“Apple has considered allowing users to annotate objects in many applications across the whole operating system, including in Mail, the Safari web browser, and iMessage, similar to what Samsung Electronics Co. offers on its Note smartphones,” reports Bloomberg.
The new feature will be packaged with a host of other productivity features for iPad that will either debut as a mid-major update at the beginning of 2017 — similar to iOS 9.3 — or as part of iOS 11 in the summer.
New iPad Pro devices allegedly won’t be unveiled until next year as well, with Apple opting for a new 10.7-inch display on the smaller iPad Pro.
The report also claims that Apple’s new stand-alone 5K display is being built in partnership with LG. It’s expected to debut later this year along with a new MacBook Pro with an OLED touchpadat the top that Apple staff are currently calling the “Dynamic Function Row.”
Although the new MacBook Pros were originally rumored to be announced at WWDC 2016, Apple’s not expected to announce them at its keynote on September 7th that will likely feature anew iPhone and the second generation Apple Watch.
