After photos of the BlackBerry DTEK70, which is also known as BlackBerry Mercury, leaked in social media, excitement among avid BB users have built up.
So much information has circulated online that fanned the anticipation felt by BlackBerry die-hard BlackBerry users across the world. The BlakBerry DTEK70 will be the last installment of the BlackBerry Trio along with BlackBerry DTEK 50 and DTEK60.
As previously reported by the GameNGuide, BlackBerry CEO John Chen confirmed that the firm is working on a keyboard smartphone. The upcoming model will be BlackBerry’s last phone before it abandons its hardware production arm, at least for now.
Release Date
All information available on BlackBerry’s last smartphone is largely based on predictions and insider tips that are unofficial, but somehow with grains of accuracy.
According to the tech website Venture Beat, the expected release date of the BlackBerry Mercury is in the first quarter of 2017. So as early as January next year, excited BlackBerry loyalists can expect the last keyboard smartphone that made the Canadian tech firm then the leading smartphone brand in the world.
Where to Buy
There have been no reliable information on where to pre-order the much-anticipated BlackBerry model. But according to GSM Arena, it’s highly likely that pre-order for the new BlackBerry will start after the release the DTEK60 or internally known as the BlackBerry Argon.
The BlackBerry Argon, which came after the BlackBerry Neon, went on global sales in October after a little after it was unveiled. It’s available for $665 in Canada and Europe. It was reported that the upcoming BlackBerry Mercury cost between $700 and $750 in the U.S.
It features a 4.5 touch capable wide screen, similar to the previous models-Privy, Passport, and Q10. BlackBerry has retained, as shown in the leaked photos, the front and rear cameras. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcom processor with 3GB RAM and runs in Android Nougat OS.
