Apple is scheduled to launch three new iPhones later this year that will succeed its 2018’s devices – the iPhone XR, the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max. In the past couple of months, rumours have hinted that Apple is likely to upgrade the camera system of its iPhone XR successor by including a dual camera setup at the back. And now a new report suggests that Apple could the iPhone XR successor in two new colour variants.
According to a report by Japanese blog Macotakara suggests that Apple could dump the coral and blue colours variants of its iPhone XR successor for two new peppy shades — lilac and green. The report also suggests that the tech giant would offer a total of six colour variants to the users to pick from. This includes — white, black, yellow, (PRODUCT) RED, lilac and green.
In addition to this, the company is expected to offer the silicone and leather cases for its iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max successors in six colour variants, which includes — white , black, spearmint, mellow yellow, (PRODUCT) RED and lilac.
Separately, serial tipster Steve H McFly and Pricebaba have released renders of the iPhone XR successor – which could possibly be called the iPhone XE or the iPhone XR 2 — based on the CAD drawings. The renders indicate that the iPhone XR successor could feature a design that is quite similar to the original iPhone XR. One change in the 2019 iPhone XR is that just like its pricer siblings – iPhone XS successor and the iPhone XS Max successor – the iPhone XR 2 – that is likely to feature a 6.1-inch LCD display, is also likely to feature a camera bump at the back. However, instead of housing a triple rear camera setup, the square camera bump is likely to house a double camera setup with a flash.
In addition to this, the iPhone XR 2 is likely to get a notch — just like the iPhone XR — and come with a screen resolution of 1,792 x 828 pixels. As far as the dimensions are concerned, the iPhone XR successor is likely to measure 150.9 x 76 x 8.3mm with the camera bump being the thickest point of the device.
Other key components – the Lightning port, the loudspeaker grille, the power button, the ejectable SIM card tray and the volume control buttons — are likely to be placed at their usual spots.
Notably, there is no word on the rear camera setup configuration that the iPhone XR 2 is likely to feature. However, rumours indicate that Apple could retain a 12MP wide angle lens at the back. There is no report on the selfie camera yet. Besides this, reports also indicate that Apple could bundle wireless charging feature in its 2019 iPhones, which would allow the next generation iPhones to wirelessly charge other Apple devices, such as the Apple Watch and the Apple AirPods 2, by placing them on the back of the iPhone 11.
Meanwhile, Apple partner – TSMC – has started the production of Apple’s next generation chipset dubbed as the A13. A Bloomberg report suggests that just like its A12 Bionic processor, Apple’s A13 system-on-chip is likely to be manufactured using a 7nm process and it would be powering all of the company’s 2019 iPhones. However, all these details are based on rumours and hence should be taken with a pinch of salt. We will have to wait until Apple launches the iPhone 11 later this year to know more about the 2019 iPhones.
