Of the top 10 apps downloaded from Google Play store in India, seven are from the Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJio) family, with the company’s apps even pushing WhatsApp to third and Facebook to 12th slots.
According to Google Play’s top charts ranking, MyJio app – the app to manage the device, Jio account, services and access suite of Jio Apps – tops the chart with more than 10 million downloads.
This, according to sources, follows RJio’s launch of services on Monday, with the Reliance Industries Ltd’s (RIL) firm began offering services with free domestic voice calls. The company, controlled by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, had also launched data tariff plans that are about 30 per cent lower than those offered by incumbent players.
This was followed by JioCinema, an app for movies, TV shows, music videos and trailers in high definition. JioTV (live TV channel app) came in fourth, followed by JioNet and then JioJoin (VoLTE phone simulator). In the seventh place was JioMusic (music player), and JioMags (e-reader for magazines) came in the 10th position on Google Play.
Other Jio apps had crossed 1 million downloads.
Eight and ninth positions were bagged by file transfer and sharing app SHAREit and Facebook Messenger.
