LG Electronics’ next flagship phone the V20 will be powered by Nougat, the latest version of the Android OS, the company has announced.
The V20 will be launched in September and is the successor to the V10 phablet launched in October last year.
The smartphone will be the first to run Android 7.0 from the get-go and will have a focus on multimedia.
LG has cooperated extensively with Google in the past — they launched the Nexus 4, Nexus 5, and Nexus 5X — and is always the first among Android vendors to use the latest version of the OS in their smartphones.
The South Korean tech giant’s mobile division saw an operating loss of $135 million in the second quarter due to low sales of its flagship G5 phone.
The part-modular phone only sold half of what LG expected and the company commenced a restructuring of the division following the failure.
