Apple decided to keep its October event focused on its Mac lineup. It was rumoured to refresh iPad models at the event initially but later that rumour died down, and new models are expected early next year. Now, a new leak gives us a look at all the changes we can expect on the next-generation iPad.
Macotakara reports that the new iPad will sport a 10.9-inch display, but will be of the same size as the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. The new Pad is expected to just increase the screen size by reducing the bezels from the sides. The top bezel where the FaceTime camera is situated will remain unchanged, but the side and the bottom bezel will be thinned out. The Home Button will be removed altogether to make way for the large display.
Talking about the Home Button, the iPhone 8 is also heavily rumoured to not have the Home Button. It is expected to sport a bezel-less curved OLED display with an optical fingerprint sensor on board. The new iPad is also expected to be a little thicker, presumably to make way for the new less bezel design. The new 10.9-inch iPad’s thickness will be increased to 7.5mm to incorporate the new design.
While the iPhone 8 is expected to incorporate OLED displays, at least in one of the models, there is no word on whether Apple looks to do the same for its iPad lineup. Currently, Apple sells the iPad Pro in two sizes – 9.7-inch and 12.9-inch – apart from the iPad Air 2, and the iPad mini 4.
