Earlier this year, Microsoft inaugurated a series of Sway featured stories which showcases how to leverage the digital storytelling app in interesting ways. Today, the company shared the third Sway of this series about Planet Labs, a San Francisco-based startup that is sending small satellites into space to capture breathtaking pictures of our planet.
Planet Labs was co-founded by a former Nasa engineer, and the company wants to use its technology for the greater good and make its data available to partners that can make good use of it. As an example, the company previously helped the Peruvian government to identify two towns that were hit by the Nepal earthquake back in 2015, and the government also used images from Planet Labs to combat illegal deforestation and gold mining in Peru. If you haven’t done so yet, we also invite you to have a look at Microsoft’s previous Sway features stories about LEGO artist Nathan Sawaya and the family behind the video game “That Dragon, Cancer.” Let us know in the comments what you think of Sway’s ability to help you tell compelling stories.
