Adite Banerjee is back. This time with a romantic thriller No Safe Zone. Originally from Kolkata, but living in Delhi for the last two decades, Adite has captured the essence of the city beautifully in her novel. From the slums to the posh nightlife of New Delhi No safe Zone takes us on an enthralling journey. Her first novel The Indian Tycoon’s Marriage Deal was published by Mills & Boon which was a huge success. No Safe Zone, published by Harper Collins India, is her third book.
The author was in the city for a reading of her latest book, which was held in the city recently at Bookworm on Church Street. The event gave the audience a brief glimpse of what the book was about. The introductory chapter, where we meet two captivating characters of Qaira and Kabir, was read out by Itisha Peerbhoy, the author of Half Love, Half Arranged.
There were no walls between the audience and Adite, they could ask her anything about her book. The crowd was also entertained with some light humour by Itisha. The story of No Safe Zone revolves around Qaira trying to find out what happened to her mentor and the NGO she runs, even if it means visiting the past that she buried years ago. Qaira is willing to go to any lengths to save her mentor from misfortune. Romance blooms in the middle of the thriller that investigates and explores the horrifying crime of human trafficking.
Adite, who was featured in Amazon’s top 100 Best Romantic Authors list of Amazon after her first two novels, says, “My love for Hindi movies and history inspired me to write fiction after being a business journalist and screen writer for so long.”
The event was interactive with a question and answer session not only related to the book, but with questions asked about the author’s personal life too.
Another interesting part of the evening was the presence of two young sketch artists, who sketched the lead characters of the novel with a little description from author and the book itself. The result was a strongly built Rajasthani man as Kabir and a delicate, yet fierce Qaira in a summer dress.
From the excerpts that were read out, we were assured of one thing, No Safe Zone is not your usual run-of-the-mill romance but offers drama and suspense that leaves the audience asking for more.
An evening with a romantic novel, hot coffee, amazing company, light showers, only added that special zing to the whole event.
