Samsung Electronics America has announced that it is in the process of acquiring Dacor, a company famous for its high-end appliances but known to us as the creator of crazy Android ovens. The California-based company’s brand and identity will not change, and neither will its operations or American manufacturing. Once the deal is finished, Samsung will own 100% of Dacor.
Samsung is already a major player in the appliance game, and with its purchase of Dacor, it’s clear that it wants to expand this business even further. Samsung, like Dacor, has produced appliances with massive screens before; earlier this year, it showed off the Samsung Family Hub, a refrigerator with a massive screen in the door.
Samsung’s Family Hub – doesn’t it look like there’s a Motorola Droid in the door?
Dacor was founded in California in 1965 and has been designing and manufacturing ultra-premium appliances in America ever since. The business has received numerous awards for its products including Digital Trends Best of Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Home Award, GOOD DESIGN™, and Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) Best in Show. It is the only company of its kind that has been recommended by the Master Chefs of Le Cordon Bleu, a culinary school in Paris.
Other than Android-equipped ovens, Dacor also produces non-Android equipped ovens, ranges (both with and without Android), cooktops, refrigerators, ventilation hoods, and wine storage.
