Super Mario Run, Nintendo’s first major game for mobile, is already a huge hit on iPhone, but Android users will have to wait until 2017 to get their fingers on the real deal.
However, a ton of Super Mario Run clones are already springing up on Google Play — trying to steal Nintendo’s thunder.
Two knockoff apps, Mario Run Jumper and Super Plumber Run, are bounding up the Google Play charts, as first spotted by CNET.
Google told CNET that Mario Run Jumper has been suspended, as the search giant seeks to weed out apps that run afoul of Google Play policies.
Super Mario Run on iOS is an instant hit
Super Mario Run launched Thursday exclusively on iPhone and iPad. Nintendo says an Android version is in the works, but the company focused on iOS first to ensure an exceptional experience.
Apple and Nintendo teams worked together to create the game Nintendo envisioned. Super Mario Run creator Shigeru Miyamoto even celebrated the game’s launch by drawing Mario on the iPad Pro using an Apple Pencil.
Other fake Super Mario apps are promising users to install the game on Android devices. If you have an Android device, make sure to steer clear of these scams.
