Threesome app 3nder has changed its name and rebranded as it deals with a lawsuit from Tinder.
The app – which says that it is “the dating app for openminded discovery unrestricted by sexuality, gender or relationship” – will now call itself Feeld and rebrand itself so that it doesn’t just focus on Threesomes.
“Feeld is inspired by endless curiosity and growth,” said founder Dimo Trifonov in a statement. “Technology evolves faster than society but humans and love are not stagnant creatures.
“We live in a world where people desire free movement, open ideas, and flexible minds. We celebrate these values in all other areas of our life – so why not in the most personal sense – sexuality?”
Mr Trifonov said that he had long been looking to rebrand the app to show that it wasn’t just used for threesomes.
“Feeld is a place where people feel free to explore along their personal boundaries,” he said. “With a highly vocal Android waitlist, it makes sense to rebrand the entire company to better express our position.”
More than 1.57 million iOS members have downloaded the app since it was launched in July 2014, and signups have increased 65 per cent in the last year, the company said. The app hasn’t yet been released on Android but already has 78,000 people on the waiting list to get access to it.
The company is currently locked in a lawsuit with Tinder, which says that the 3nder name infringed its trademark and misled users. The company is fighting that lawsuit but said that the rebanrand would further distinguish it from Tinder and other dating apps.
