Hannah Cohen, 19, and her mother were traveling through the airport last summer after a visit to St. Jude Children’s research Hospital when her sequined top may have set off the security alarm.
Cohen’s mother said Hannah is permanently disabled by a brain tumor that left her partially blind, deaf and easily confused.
Shirley said because of the condition, Hannah was unable to cooperate with TSA agents who then pulled her aside, slammed her to the ground and allegedly beat her.
Hannah was charged with resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. The charges were eventually dropped.
Six weeks ago, the family filed a lawsuit against Memphis International Airport, airport police and the TSA for $100,000.
