PoGo, the third party Pokémon Go app on Windows 10 Mobile, had a lot of ups and downs over the course of the last month. After being released, Pokemon Go company Niantic tweaked their API and upset many third-party developers. Particularly those that depended on them for the Windows 10 Mobile, which remains a horizon Pokemon Go has not tread upon yet.
The API change didn’t stop PoGo from picking up where it left off. After its re-release on Windows 10 Mobile, the critter catching app now has a major update that is sure to please many fans of the original. The Pokedex and Item Inventory, a major feature in Pokemon Go, were finally added in the latest update. While the release just earlier this week included some of these buttons as placeholders, they weren’t functional until now.
The changelog for v1.0.29 (v1.1.0-RC2) lists the following:
- Added item inventory
- Added Pokedex
- Added battery saver mode
- Added level up notification
- Added hatching notification
- Added new translations
- Improved update system, now we can remotely disable the app if some gamebreaking change happens
- Improved network Handling
- Improved UI
- Improved app messages to make them more useful
- Fixed catching bugs
- Fixed bug in proto files that caused wrong values to be sent to server
- Fixed resume to map page after suspension
- Fixed a lot of other minor things
The download and instructions for installation can be found over on the developer’s GitHub repository.
It seems like PoGo developers are keeping their thoughts one step ahead of Niantic as well. Developer STApps from the PoGo sub-reddit made a statement that they are planning to add a captcha to the application “when Niantic will make it mandatory.”Pokemon Go still remains for iOS and Android mobile users only, but for some, the PoGo app has alleviated that itch to “catch ’em all.” Ket us know in the comments if this PoGo build adds any value to your Pokemon Go experience.
